Although this walk is around 4 kms, not our usual 7 kms, Cockatoo Island is a very historical part of Sydney, with interesting terrain and walks abundant with heritage features. It is the largest island in Sydney Harbour, and was off-limits to the public for more than 100 years. Originally a convict prison from 1839-1869, from 1857-1991 it became one of Australia’s longest running dockyards and ship building complexes.
We will travel over to the island by ferry.
