Go Saturday – State Library of NSW

Saturday, July 27, 2019 @ 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Time to delve into history for a visit to the State Library of NSW.

The Mitchell Library in Sydney, opened in 1910, holds Australia’s greatest collection of cultural heritage, particularly in Australian history, culture and literature. Other topics include Society, Arts, Natural History and Culture as well as People and Places. The building was designed to hold the Australiana collections from a bequest by David S. Mitchell. Amongst its catalogue it has the original journal of James Cook, as well as Abel Tasman and Matthew Flinders.

Here we can immerse ourselves in the exhibitions on display: Dead Central (exploring the hidden history under Central St); Generations (exploring the stories from newly arrived migrants and refugees); and finally Quick March! The children of WW I (a personal look at children’s lives in World War One).  Finally we can end the afternoon with refreshments.
