Located high above Sydney on the roof of a modern building in Eveleigh we will visit a rooftop farm with over 2,000 edible, medicinal and cultural plants, created by interweaving the principles of Indigenous knowledge and collaborative design thinking. Its design and ethno-botanical ecology successfully created the world’s first Indigenous rooftop farm for urban food production.
In this visit we will see how the threatened, endangered and culturally significant species of native medicinal plants and bush foods have been maintained using permaculture techniques. This oasis is also a place where Aboriginal culture meets environmental sustainability and physical and mental health and well-being.
