We are delighted to announce that our SWIC Annual Private Tour of the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes will go ahead, albeit with reduced numbers. Please RSVP early if you wish to attend.
The Archibald Prize, first awarded in 1921, is Australia’s favourite art award, and one of its most prestigious. Awarded to the best portrait painting, it’s a who’s who of Australian culture – from politicians to celebrities, sporting heroes to artists. The Wynne Prize is awarded to the best landscape painting of Australian scenery or figure sculpture, while the Sulman Prize is given to the best subject painting, genre painting or mural project in oil, acrylic, water colour or mixed media. Each year, the trustees of the Art Gallery of NSW judge the Archibald and Wynne. They invite an artist to judge the Sulman.

Step1: Members email an RSVP to the Convenor to determine availability. We will always try to get back to you in 24 hours so if you haven’t heard please contact us again. To meet Contact Tracing Protocols please include your full name; best contact phone number and Post Code (required by all major galleries)
Step 2: On advice from the Convenor re availability the Member makes a payment to confirm their place on the tour.
Step 3: The Member sends a brief Email to the Convenor advising of payment.

TIME: Meet outside the main door of the Art Gallery of New South Wales no later than 9.25am for a 9.30am tour. Please maintain social distancing.

The NSW Art Gallery is located the eastern side of Sydney’s CBD. The Gallery is approximately a 5 minute walk from Macquarie Street, across the Domain, or from Hyde Park. Closest Car Park Station is The Domain.
