Nutcote, built in 1925, is the beautiful harbourside home of May Gibbs (1877-1969), Australia’s foremost children’s author and illustrator and best known for her iconic story, The Complete Adventures of Snugglepot & Cuddlepie. It is also the location for some of the scenes in the recent movie, ‘Ladies in Black’.
Located in Sydney’s Neutral Bay, the house has been restored as a museum reflecting the 1920s, and is surrounded by delightful gardens.
A visit to Nutcote will allow you to appreciate the full scope of May Gibbs’ creative talents, how she lived, and to see some of her famous works. We will have a tour of the house and museum and have time to enjoy the beautiful gardens which extend down to the harbour.
