With the Art Gallery of NSW’s new building opening on 3 December, the Gallery has created a very special introduction art experience. As loyal supporters over many years SWIC Art & Culture has received the offer of being amongst the first to view the new building and commissioned works.
Who are the towering bronze beings that greet you at the entrance of the New Sydney Modern? How was an abandoned oil tank turned into a gallery? In this tour, we explore the art and architecture of the Art Gallery NSW’s new building. Meet the one-of-a-kind artworks created for this space, from large-scale installations by significant Indigenous artists to new sculptural work by international artists. Discover new galleries and get to know the secrets of Sydney’s most exciting new architectural landmark.

MEETING PLACE: The Welcome Hub in the Plaza of the new building. After cloaking at the desk outside the Gallery, one of the Welcome Hosts will escort our group inside where we will be fitted with headsets and head off with our guide. The tour will last for approximately 1 to 1.25 hours. You are then free to wander around the new building, and if you wish join Alison and Kay for morning tea (at your own expense).
