For those of you who missed out on our December 22 tour to the Sydney Modern we are delighted to announce a second tour ‘Discover the Art and Architecture of Sydney Modern’ – a very special introductory art experience.
Who are the towering bronze beings that greet you at the entrance of the New Sydney Modern? How was an abandoned oil tank turned into a gallery? In this tour, we explore the art and architecture of the Art Gallery NSW new building. Meet the one-of-a-kind artworks created for this space, from large-scale installations by significant Indigenous artists to new sculptural work by international artists. Discover new galleries and get to know the secrets of Sydney’s most exciting new architectural landmark. The Sydney Modern Project has transformed the Art Gallery of New South Wales into a unique art museum campus with two buildings and an art garden on Gadigal Country. From the reimagined original building, now known as the South Building, to the stunning new building, known as the North Building, you’ll find art, both historical and contemporary, from across Australia and around the world.

TIME: 9.30am -11.00 (approximately)
VENUE: Art Gallery of NSW, on Gadigal Country- North Building Art Gallery Road The Domain, Sydney NSW 2000.
MEETING PLACE: The Welcome Hub in the Plaza of the new building. After cloaking at the desk outside the Gallery, one of the Welcome Hosts will escort our group inside where we will be fitted with headsets and head off with our guide. The tour will last for approximately 1 to 1.25 hours. You are then free to wander around the new building and if you wish join Alison and Kay for morning tea (at your own expense).
