Dear Monthly Activity Enthusiasts,
This month takes us to Mosman and back in time as we explore Georges Heights at Headland Park, which once played a crucial role in the defence of Sydney Harbour. Our guide will explain the significance of the gun emplacements, underground tunnels and other military relics dating back to the 1870s.
During our 90-minute Tunnels and Gunners Tour, an experienced volunteer guide will lead us through two sets of demilitarised fortifications set within coastal bushland, including tunnels off limits to the general public. The tour concludes at the Headland Park Artist Precinct, which is home to a thriving community of painters, potters, sculptors and photographers.
The tour is 90 minutes and includes stairs, bush tracks and unlit underground tunnels. The tour concludes at Georges Heights Artist’s Precinct and is approximately a five-minute walk to the car park.
