Sydney Architectural Walks will be guiding us again after a very successful walk with them that we did last year in Chippendale. This walking tour will explore the back streets of Surry Hills, plucking out some of the most interesting contemporary moments of architecture, landscape and design including pools, parks, commercial and residential buildings, small infill developments and radical re-workings of heritage buildings. The conversation will shift from individual projects to City of Sydney governance strategies, state government ambitions for the area, new ideas around public and affordable housing, radical plans to re-zone the land above the railway tracks as well as the suburb of Surry Hills itself and how and why it has evolved as it has.
