
Thursday Afternoon Symphony has now been added to the Classical Music series. Performances by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra by a variety of composers commencing at 1.30pm.
These are two hour (with intervals) concerts with free pre-concert talks in the foyer usually by the musician who explains the music, talks about musicians and composers
Ray Chen ( b.1989), one of the foremost violinists of his generation, will perform Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s ( 1840-1893) the most famous Violin Concerto. Ray Chen may play a three hundred years old “Joachim” Stradivarius violin which he has on loan.
Symphony No.5 by Carl Nielsen, Danish composer (1865-1931) will be played in in the second part of the concert, David Robertson conducting.
Pre-concert talk 30-45 minutes before the concert will be held in Northern Foyer, you are welcome to bring your coffee or drink with you.

TIME: All performances are at 1.30pm.
