Nanda\Hobbs is passionate about art, supporting artists and building collections of the best contemporary art. They represent some of the most talented artists in Australia and abroad. This year four of their represented artists have been named finalists in the 2025 Archibald and Wynne Prizes—a massive achievement for Nanda\Hobbs and an extraordinary moment of recognition of these distinctive voices in contemporary Australian art.
Ralph Hobbs will speak to our group about ‘What it takes to run an Art Gallery,’ and also to introduce two exhibitions that the gallery has showing currently: Andrew Sullivan & Ben Smith.
We will also have an opportunity to visit their stock-room and learn more about what it takes to put on art exhibitions.

Andrew is an incredible artist and this will be his first exhibition with Nanda Hobbs.
Sulman Prize Winner 2014. In addition to his triumph at the 2014 Sulman, he has been a finalist in the Archibald Prize, the Blake Art Prize and the Mosman Art Prize and has exhibited widely across Australia and abroad.

Ben has won the 2015 and 2010 Waverley Art Prize, the Mosman Emerging Artist Award and the Odd Nerdrum Self Portrait Competition. He has been a finalist in more than 50 established art prizes across Australia, including the Archibald Prize (2024, 2018) the Doug Moran Portrait Prize (2009, 2010) and the Sulman Prize (2010, 2011). In 2012 Ben painted Nick Cave for the Archibald Portrait Prize. In 2019 he was commissioned by Nick to paint a portrait for his exhibition “Stranger than Kindness” and for the cover of the companion book.
