SUMMARY:Theatre Group - 'A Doll's House'
DESCRIPTION:Join us in June for an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play. \nAdapted for the stage by Joanna Murray-Smith \nDirector – Mark Kilmurry \nTo the world\, Nora Helmer has it all: a well-respected husband\, an immaculate home and three darling children. But underneath the façade of a confident modern woman juggling her life\, lies a secret. Or two. When an old ghost comes knocking on the Helmer’s door\, their seemingly solid marriage is shaken to the core. \nChantelle Jamieson (‘Killing Katie: Confessions of a Book Club’) fiercely steps into the shoes of one of the most iconic female characters in dramatic history. I have needed to provide my credit card as security\, so it is essential that you don’t cancel at the last minute and only six places have been reserved. Going forward\, I have decided to make a regular booking at Zebra Lounge\, Pyrmont\, rather than trying to look for alternatives. \nDATE:  Sunday 10 July 2022 \nTIME: 10:20am (no 10.00am time slot available) \nVENUE:  Mosman Rowers\, 3 Centenary Drive\, Mosman – Tel: 8006 8880 – https://www.mosmanrowers.com.au/ \nCOST:  Individuals to pay for themselves on the day \nRSVP TO: Lou-anne Folder at singlessundaybrunch@gmail.com by 3 July 2022 \nNB: If you RSVP & then change your mind\, it is imperative that you contact Lou-anne\, as her credit card will be charged $10 per head for ‘no shows’. Similarly\, you must RSVP if you wish to come; you cannot just turn up on the day. \nTRANSPORT:   \nFerry:   Catch a ferry from Circular Quay Wharf 4 to Mosman Bay Wharf\, then it’s a 5 minute walk to the left\, around the top of the bay – Mosman Rowers Restaurant is virtually opposite Mosman Bay Wharf. Alternatively\, you can alight at the prior ferry stop\, ie\, Old Cremorne Wharf\, and it’s approximately a 10-minute walk to the right along the edge of the bay via Bromley Ave. \nCar:  Parking is generally available. SUMMARY:Theatre Group - 'Tell Me I'm Here'
DESCRIPTION:This month we are in for a special late Sunday afternoon treat at Belvoir\, enabling our members who have weekday commitments to attend. \nBy Veronica Nadine Gleeson\, based on the book by Anne Deveson\nDirected by Leticia Cáceres \nAnne’s life – the familiar juggle of marriage\, career\, emotions\, chaos – is thrown off-balance when her son Jonathan begins speaking oddly\, standing strangely\, flashing into irrationality and rage. Is it just a phase\, part of growing up? The years pass\, and it’s clear\, Anne’s son has been diagnosed with schizophrenia. But putting a name to it is one thing – getting attention\, getting help is another. Even the strongest families\, the most steadfast parents\, buckle under such stress. \nHeart-rending\, exquisitely touching\, a play which speaks things which normally aren’t spoken. A play about getting on with life\, before it’s too late. \n‘Tell Me I’m Here’ is the proud recipient of the Blake Beckett Trust Award. \nDATE: Sunday 21 August 2022 (Preview session) \nTIME: 6.30pm \nVENUE: Upstairs Theatre\, Belvoir Street Theatre\, Gadigal Country\, 25 Belvoir Street\, Surry Hills\, NSW 2010 \nTICKETS: Preview $57 \nJudith and Cherry have purchased tickets B20 and B21 \nTo buy your tickets visit www.belvoir.com.au or ring the box office on 9699 3444 \nPRE-THEATRE SNACKS/DRINKS (Optional): Join us at the downstairs Theatre Bar for snacks and chat before the performance at 5.30pm \nRSVP TO: Judith Nguyen at nguyenjm@bigpond.net.au \nRSVP BY: 17 August 2022 \n*************************************************************************** \nTHEATRE GROUP – Looking Ahead in 2022 \nTo enable you to plan your diary for 2022\, below are the dates and selected plays for Theatre Group for the remainder of 2022. SUMMARY:Go Saturday - Justice & Police Museum
DESCRIPTION:Let’s step into the dark side of Sydney’s past with a visit to the Water Police station and courts that once made up one of the city’s busiest legal hubs. \nCrooks and cops\, thugs and judges\, locals and drifters\, the guilty and the innocent have all left their stories here. With its 1890s holding cells\, offices\, charge room and courts\, the museum draws you into a world of crime\, punishment and policing\, from bushrangers\, sly grog and razor gangs to forensics. A vast archive of crime scene photography and mug shots reveal more than a century of underworld Sydney. \nDATE: Saturday 27 August 2022 \nTIME: Meet at 2.00pm \nVENUE: Justice & Police Museum\, Corner Albert and Phillip Streets\, Circular Quay\, Sydney 2000 \nRSVP: To Sian Ware at sianware1@gmail.com \nRSVP BY: Tuesday 23 August 2022 \nCOST: Free \nWebsite: https://sydneylivingmuseums.com.au/justice-police-museum
