SUMMARY:Movie Group
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text] Hello everyone! Time for our October movie on Tuesday the 24th. \nLOCATION: Dendy Movie Theater Circular Quay \nSelect your movie and buy your ticket. \nLunch/coffee/fellowship immediately following at City Extra across from the wharf. After your movie\, proceed to the restaurant and ask for a table upstairs in an open area 10-20 people. Hopefully you won’t be the only Swic person to attend your movie but just in case\, proceed to the restaurant to meet up with everyone. \nNo need to RSVP. See you at the movies! \nMOVIES: \nFinal Portrait 10.00am \nParis\, 1964. Alberto Giacometti\, the famous artist\, bumps into his old friend\, the American critic\, James Lord\, and begs that he sits for a portrait because he has an interesting face. It’ll just take a couple of days in his studio. Lord is flattered by the request and as the days go by and turn into weeks and weeks seemingly with no end in sight he realises his entire life has been hijacked by this erratic genius. The portrait continues to ebb and flow. Veering between frustration and joy\, Lord ultimately sees logic in the artist’s chaotic mind and together we witness a genius complete one of his last masterpieces. \nRotten Tomatoes: 76% \nThe Mountain Between Us 10.00am \nStranded after a tragic plane crash\, two strangers must forge a connection to survive the extreme elements of a remote snow covered mountain. When they realize help is not coming\, they embark on a perilous journey across hundreds of miles of wilderness\, pushing one another to endure and discovering strength they never knew possible. The film is directed by Academy Award nominee Hany Abu-Assad and stars Academy Award winner Kate Winslet and Idris Elba. \nRotten Tomatoes: 43% \nVictoria and Abdul 10:30am \nThe extraordinary true story of an unexpected friendship in the later years of Queen Victoria’s (Academy Award winner Judi Dench) remarkable rule. When Abdul Karim (Ali Fazal)\, a young clerk\, travels from India to participate in the Queen’s Golden Jubilee\, he is surprised to find favor with the Queen herself. As the Queen questions the constrictions of her long-held position\, the two forge an unlikely and devoted alliance with a loyalty to one another that her household and inner circle all attempt to destroy. As the friendship deepens\, the Queen begins to see a changing world through new eyes and joyfully reclaims her humanity. \nRotten Tomatoes: 68% \nJill is away this month so please contact Ann if you have any questions. As a reminder\, please wear your name badges – it’s very helpful for new members and us ‘old-timers’ too. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
