DESCRIPTION:Rummikub is an exciting and fun game\, just right for exercising the little grey cells in our brains\, and making new friends. If you don’t know the game\, it has a bit in common with Rummy\, is very simple to learn\, has lots of twists\, and quickly becomes addictive! \nBeginners are welcome and there is no need to bring your own game. We have two sets. It is possible to play Rummikub with different numbers of people in one game. \nThe Rummikub players meet on the first and third Friday afternoon of each month at the Kirribilli Club in Lavender Bay. We play in an open space in the coffee area. DESCRIPTION:This February the Art Gallery of New South Wales presents Brett Whiteley: drawing is everything\, the first major museum exhibition to focus on the central place of drawing in Whiteley’s work. Key paintings and sculptures are also showcased\, underpinning the importance of drawing to Whiteley’s broader artistic practice. The drawings in this exhibition have rarely been seen. They range from Whiteley’s early images of Sydney and Europe and his great abstracts that brought him international fame in the 1960s\, to the lyrical landscapes\, portraits\, interiors and nudes that established him as one of the most prominent and well-loved Australian artists of the 20th century. \nArt Gallery of NSW director\, Dr Michael Brand\, has said “The exhibition celebrates Whiteley’s creative energy and masterful command of the drawn line. An empire is at stake and a queen’s life hangs in the balance. This is one of history’s great rivalries. DESCRIPTION:This exhibition of treasures from the National Palace Museum\, Taipei\, is a rare opportunity to see some of the highest artistic achievements across 5000 years of Chinese history \nIn March we return to the Art Gallery of NSW for a private tour of this remarkable exhibition. The National Palace Museum\, Taipei\, holds one of the finest collections of Chinese art in the world. Accumulated by emperors over centuries\, this collection was\, for hundreds of years\, accessible only to the imperial elite. It is now rarely seen outside Taipei. \nCelebrating the rich heritage of Chinese civilisation through the ancient concept of unity or harmony between heaven\, nature and humanity – Heaven and earth in Chinese art presents a series of 87 artworks including paintings\, calligraphy\, illustrated books\, bronzes\, ceramics\, jade and wood carvings\, dating from the Neolithic period to the 19th century. \nThis is the first time the collection has travelled to the southern hemisphere and it is unlikely to be seen in Australia again. SUMMARY:Challenging Walk - Bundeena to Marley Beach
DESCRIPTION:April’s walk will be approximately 11km long and will consist of some street walking before heading into the Royal National Park. Inside the park we will traverse boardwalks\, flat paths\, rocky surfaces and be confronted with some steps. DESCRIPTION:First performed in 1668\, The Miser is the well-known satire by French playwright Molière\, known for other classics such as Tartuffe and The Misanthrope. \nIn this performance\, starring John Bell\, the Founder of Bell Shakespeare\, The Miser is directed by Peter Evans and is based on a new contemporary version of Molière’s play written by Justin Fleming. \nIt is a play about family dynamics and greed. It is about the power of money – and those who are seduced by it. In the world of The Miser\, passion and penny-pinching go head to head in a ribald comedy of manners. Wealthy skinflint\, Harpagon is so cheap he’d rather bury his money in the backyard and steal oats from his horse before seeing a dollar spent.
