SUMMARY:Theatre Group - "Stop Girl" by Sally Sara
DESCRIPTION:Directed by Anne-Louise Sarks \nStarring Sheridan Harbridge (Prima Facie) \nAward-winning ABC foreign correspondent Sally Sara adds playwright to her many accomplishments with the new Belvoir St Theatre show Stop Girl. Drawing on her own experiences as a foreign correspondent\, it stars Sheridan Harbridge (Prima Facie) as a renowned front-line reporter used to throwing herself into the most dangerous situations worldwide. \nBut now she’s back home in Australia and has to readjust to the new normal. How has the country she knows and loves changed while she’s been away? Has she really been able to process everything she’s been through overseas? \nThis insightful look at what it takes to maintain a high-pressure career like this and then settle into a totally different rhythm is ably tackled by An Enemy of The People director Anne-Louise Sarks. \nA ratbaggy\, wise play by a writer who’s seen it all first hand\, and has learnt how to ask the pointed questions.I’m sure everyone’s familiar with Sally Sara from her work at the ABC. SUMMARY:Monthly Activity - Oldest & Newest – The Rocks and Barangaroo Architecture Walk (WAITLIST)
DESCRIPTION:Stroll with the expert architect through the hilly terrain of Sydney’s oldest suburb\, The Rocks and see how heritage and contemporary architecture co-exist in harmony. \nIn this two-hour walk\, you will discover much more about Sydney’s past\, present and future\, co-existing in harmony side by side\, from the old colonial area to Sydney’s newest urban suburb\, Barangaroo. \nThe walk includes the Barangaroo Point Reserve and Foundation Park. The Rocks’ best kept secret and the ‘ghost houses’ sculpture introduce an element of fantasy\, inviting imaginative responses from visitors\, giving it a unique ‘secret garden’ character. \nYou will also witness the metamorphosis of the area into new residential\, commercial\, recreational and cultural uses of the 21st Century after the port facilities moved away in both Walsh Bay and Barangaroo. \nThe tour concludes at the controversial brutalist apartment building\, The Sirius\, and (optional) lunch at somewhere nice\, at your own cost. \nDATE: Thursday 25 March 2021 \nTIME: 10.00am – 12.00pm \nLIMITED TO MAX 15 PEOPLE \nVENUE: Meeting point to be advised \nCOST: $40 per person\, to be paid at RSVP. SUMMARY:Theatre Group - "Is There Something Wrong With That Lady?" - by Debra Oswald
DESCRIPTION:Directed by Lee Lewis with Debra Oswald \nAs a lapsed playwright\, creator of the Offspring TV series\, former Junior Champion Hypochondriac\, and a floundering novelist\, what should Debra Oswald‘s next move be? And what motivates people to write or create more ‘stuff’ anyway? Shame? Fear of death? The hope of more sexual offers? \nFor now\, Debra plans to seize control of the Griffin stage: the exact location she fell in love with theatre\, aged 11\, and the place her plays Mr Bailey’s Minder and The Peach Season came to life. \nIn a funny and excruciatingly honest one-woman show\, Debra tells stories about her neurotic childhood\, clumsy romantic history\, and the anxieties and joys of the writer’s life – all in the hope that the audience can help her work out that ever-important question: what comes next? And having waited for this show to be staged since its original 2020 season… it’s kind of urgent. \nDATE: Thursday\, 22 April 2021 \nTIME: 7.00pm (6.00pm for pre-performance drinks) \nVENUE: SBW Stables (Griffin Theatre Company)\, 10 Nimrod Street\, Kings Cross\, NSW 2011 \nTICKETS: $40 \nWe have bought tickets for Seats 43 and 44. \nTo purchase your ticket go to boxoffice@griffintheatre.com.au or phone (02) 9361 3817\n10.00am – 6.00pm weekdays.
