SUMMARY:Challenging Walk – The Sixth Leg of Bondi to Manly Walk – Spit Bridge - Manly Wharf
DESCRIPTION:At the end of 2018\, six city councils along with other agencies\, decided to create a coastal and harbour-side walking track between two famous beaches in Sydney\, Bondi Beach and Manly Beach. The result of this collaboration is the epic 80km Bondi to Manly Walk. The details can be found on www.bonditomanly.com or the B2M app. We will walk the Bondi to Manly Walk in seven stages together\, walking one stage at a time on the first Tuesday of the month from June to December. \nIn November\, we will do the sixth leg of Bondi to Manly Walk from Spit Bridge to Manly Wharf. The walk is approximately 10km with an elevation gain of 188m. The walk will take around 3 hours to complete. \nStarting at the Spit Bridge\, we’ll continue on to Fisher Bay Trail which leads to Clontarf Beach and Grotto Point Lighthouse. Along the way\, be on the lookout for Aboriginal Rock Engravings and Shell Middens. Heading back towards Manly\, the trail continues along to Dobroyd Head\, passing Indigenous Australian Rock Engravings and Heritage Sites. Along this part of the walk there are many viewpoints\, such as Arabanoo Lookout\, Reef Bay and Delwood Beach\, all of which have glistening views of Middle Harbour and Sydney’s Headlands. Continuing to Manly Wharf\, we’ll pass Federation Point\, Manly Walkway of Olympians and Manly Cove. DESCRIPTION:Art and Culture invites you to join us for ‘Kandinsky’. This Block Buster exhibition\, curated with the Solomon R. DESCRIPTION:Both an in-depth and textured portrait of enigmatic Danish architect Jørn Utzon\, as well as the story of perhaps the 20th Centuries most ambitious architectural project\, this tour will be draw you in to the visionary world of the architect of Sydney Opera House. \nDiscussing the sources of Utzon’s deepest inspiration\, his working methods and influences\, we will chart the development of Utzon’s ideas and their materialisation in the platform\, concrete shells and ceramic skin of Sydney Opera House. You will discover the influence of towering 20th Century figures like Le Corbusier\, Alvar Aalto\, Eero Saarinen\, Mies van der Rohe\, Frank Lloyd Wright\, Antonio Gaudi and even Picasso on Utzon’s thinking and you will discover the ways in which his work was at once contemporary whilst drawing its inspiration from the work of the ancients. \nUtzon considered the six years he spent developing the interiors of the House the most productive of his career. None of this work was realised.
