Manly Art Gallery & Museum has an extensive collection of Australian art\, ceramics and beach culture. Located at Manly Cove just along from the wharf\, it is the arts and cultural flagship for Sydney’s Northern Beaches and contributes richly to cultural tourism in the region. MAG&M Design Shop presents the work of local Australian artists and designers \nMAG&M was established in 1930\, however 2024 marks 100 years since the Gallery’s collection commenced.   To celebrate this milestone we have organised a SWIC Private Curator Led Tour of the indigenous ceramics’ exhibition\, ‘Clay on Country. DESCRIPTION:The SWIC Craft Group (which is actually a ‘needlecraft’ group) meets on the first Friday of the month from March to December. At the beginning of the year  the group has a voluntary ‘show and tell’ of work by those who wish to do so. \nMeetings are held in the homes of those members who are able to host. The format is ‘Open House’ from 12noon to 4.00pm and members are welcome to come for an hour\, or two\, or the whole afternoon. Afternoon tea is provided and members put $4 in the kitty to help cover the hostess’s expenses. \nThe group’s craft interests include knitting\, crochet\, embroidery\, cross stitch\, quilting\, patchwork and tapestry. DESCRIPTION:We will walk the ~10.5km Riverside circuit which meanders through natural bushland and a string of picturesque picnic areas in Lane Cove National Park\, just north of the Sydney CBD. Following the southern bank of Lane Cove River\, from the weir near Delhi Road to Deburghs Bridge\, the scenic walk takes in peaceful bush settings where you can stop and enjoy tranquil river views. This walk includes short steep hills and steps. It is a formed track with some obstacles. You should not be carrying any injuries and be able to walk consistently at a moderate pace. \nDATE: Tuesday 3 September \nTIME: 10:00 – 1:30 approximate (includes time for lunch) \nVENUE: Meet at the Koonjeree Picnic area in the Lane Cove National Park. \n \n  \nCOST: $8 parking fee.
