DESCRIPTION:Our first stop is a visit to Manly Art Gallery & Museum. This is the first metropolitan based regional gallery in NSW\, established in 1930. It is a small gallery with an interesting collection of works. The exhibition from 14th June-28th July is a multimedia art installation about storytelling. From here we will walk to Harbord Diggers along Manly\, Queenscliff and Freshwater beaches and boardwalk hoping to see some whales. It’s an easy walk (7 km round trip) with marvellous views and a few steps between Queenscliff and Freshwater. \nLunch at the Harbord Diggers\, for those who would like\, then walk back to Manly wharf. SUMMARY:Craft Group
DESCRIPTION:The SWIC Craft Group (which is actually a ‘needlecraft’ group) meets on the first Friday of the month from March to December. At the beginning of the year  the group has a voluntary ‘show and tell’ of work by those who wish to do so. \nMeetings are held in the homes of those members who are able to host. The format is ‘Open House’ from 12noon to 4.00pm and members are welcome to come for an hour\, or two\, or the whole afternoon. Afternoon tea is provided and members put $4 in the kitty to help cover the hostess’s expenses. \nThe group’s craft interests include knitting\, crochet\, embroidery\, cross stitch\, quilting\, patchwork and tapestry. SUMMARY:Challenging Walk – Cremorne Point to Balmoral Beach
DESCRIPTION:This walk commences at Cremorne Point Wharf. It takes us past Mosman Bay\, Little Sirius Cove and Taronga Zoo. We then take in Bradley’s Head and Chowder Bay before walking through Sydney Harbour National Park and reaching our final destination at Balmoral. It is a bit over 11 kms and will probably take 3.5-4 hours. You are welcome to join us for part of this walk and depart at any point. Note you must not be carrying any injuries and be able to walk consistently at a moderate pace \nDATE: Tuesday 2 July 2024 \nTIME: 9:20 – 2:00 approximate (includes time for lunch but excludes return travel time) \nVENUE: Circular Quay – arrive 9:20 at the wharf to catch the 9:30 am ferry arriving at Cremorne Point by 9:40. The 114 buses also leave Raglan Street at The Esplanade\, going to Spit Junction\, Military Road. From there you can catch the B-line to Wynyard. There are some other transport options that involve a 12-15 mins walk before catching a bus which are provided in the Transport NSW Trip Planner.

Previously\, the historic waterfront site hosted a gas works\, torpedo factory and submarine base. \nFrom the late 1900s until the end of the 20th century\, the site met the energy needs of Sydney’s North Shore (1877-1937) and contributed to the defence of Australia (1942-1999). \nEager to journey through this layered history? DESCRIPTION:Book Group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at two venues – one in the eastern suburbs and one on the north shore.
