DESCRIPTION:The SWIC Craft Group (which is actually a ‘needlecraft’ group) meets on the first Friday of the month from March to December. At the beginning of the year  the group has a voluntary ‘show and tell’ of work by those who wish to do so. \nMeetings are held in the homes of those members who are able to host. The format is ‘Open House’ from 12noon to 4.00pm and members are welcome to come for an hour\, or two\, or the whole afternoon. Afternoon tea is provided and members put $4 in the kitty to help cover the hostess’s expenses. \nThe group’s craft interests include knitting\, crochet\, embroidery\, cross stitch\, quilting\, patchwork and tapestry. The always fabulous\, interesting\, controversial\, must-see Archibald\, Wynne and Sulman Exhibition returns to NSW Art Gallery. We have the pleasure of being guided around the artworks by the incredible Les Moseley (for those who are new to Art and Culture\, Les is a favourite of SWIC) \nIf you only do one tour with SWIC Art and Culture\, this is the one to do. \nThe Archibald\, Wynne and Sulman Prizes delight and surprise audiences every year with fresh presentations of contemporary Australian painting and sculpture. \nAt its heart\, the Archibald Prize is about storytelling. Les has all the behind-the-scenes information on every entry and brings each piece to life for us. \nThe Wynne Prize celebrates two major categories of art: Australian landscape painting and figurative sculpture. DESCRIPTION:Our next concert is Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony on Thursday June 18 at 1.30pm. It’s two hours concert with interval and 45 minutes of preconcert talk in the foyer of Opera House\, free. \nBeethoven’s Fifth is more than an iconic piece of music – it’s a cultural phenomenon. \nIt’s dramatic opening is the most recognisable hook in orchestral music still use in films\,TV and commercials.
