DESCRIPTION:Classical music concert by Sydney Symphony Orchestra on Thursday 23 July will satisfy piano music lovers and admirers of conductor Simone Young. \n \nThe July concert of ‘Emirates Thursday Afternoon Symphony’ series called Emperor Concerto will present Javier Perianes\, a Spanish pianist\, playing Piano Concerto No.2 and No.5 by Beethoven. Symphony No.1\, also by Beethoven\, will be presented by SSO under Simone Young as a first part of the afternoon. \nThere will be free pre-concert talk from 12.45pm on the second floor in the foyer.  We can meet before and after the concert for some food and drink at the left bar inside the foyer of Opera House. \nDATE: Thursday\, 23 July 2026 \nTIME: 1.30pm – 3:30pm (2 hours concert with interval) \nVENUE: Sydney Opera House Concert Hall \nCOST: Members need to buy their own tickets at Opera House box office (02 9259 7777) or SSO box office (02 8215 4600) or online. Grace and Glenyse bought tickets in box F. DESCRIPTION:The SWIC Craft Group (which is actually a ‘needlecraft’ group) meets on the first Friday of the month from March to December. At the beginning of the year  the group has a voluntary ‘show and tell’ of work by those who wish to do so. \nMeetings are held in the homes of those members who are able to host. The format is ‘Open House’ from 12noon to 4.00pm and members are welcome to come for an hour\, or two\, or the whole afternoon. Afternoon tea is provided and members put $4 in the kitty to help cover the hostess’s expenses. \nThe group’s craft interests include knitting\, crochet\, embroidery\, cross stitch\, quilting\, patchwork and tapestry.
