Are you up for an out-of-Sydney adventure to the beautiful Blue Mountains?
Our March Art & Culture event is a private guided history tour of Woodford Academy and a ‘Conversation’ with Artist in Residence, Yvette Hamilton.
On the tour we will explore the rich history of Woodford Academy, the oldest complex of colonial sandstone buildings in the Blue Mountains. Woodford Academy is a heritage-listed former academy school, inn, private residence and boarding house and now a National Trust museum, tourist attraction and art gallery. Dating from the 1830s the Academy has a multi-layered history, having originally been built as an Inn. From 1907-1936 it was an exclusive school called Woodford Academy.
‘In Conversation’ with Yvette Hamilton, hear about Woodford Academy’s rich astronomical past. Delve into the history of Alfred Fairfax‘s role in the observations of the Transit of Venus in 1874. Learn of Yvette’s evolving art practice which explores the medium of photography and vision.
