Mahratta has been listed with the State Heritage Council and is acknowledged as one of the finest Art Deco mansions in Sydney.

It has one of the few remaining gardens in the Sydney Metropolitan area designed by Paul Sorensen.

Mahratta began as a family home and was later owned by the Bank of New South Wales (Westpac). It is now home to The School of Philosophy. The name Mahratta is derived from two Sanskrit words Maha ratta, ‘The Great Kingdom’.

DATE: Tuesday 29 August 2017

TIME: 10.35am for a 10.40am House Tour followed by Devonshire Tea and a Garden Ramble (approximately 2 hours in total).

VENUE: Mahratta – 25 Fox Valley Rd, Wahroonga (corner of Fox Valley Rd and Pacific Highway), NSW 2076

COST: $30 pp (proceeds to ‘Friends of Mahratta’ for the care and preservation of the house and garden)

PAYMENT:  Pay on the day
