Join us in March for our monthly International Morning Tea featuring Croatian flavours. Romana Petrusic, our hostess, came to Sydney and joined SWIC in 2015. Romana was a member of the International Women Club in Zagreb and came to Sydney as the wife of a diplomat, with her husband being appointed as the Consul General of Croatia in November 2014.
Romana is looking forward to sharing with us a little of her past life in Croatia, while also sharing some of her favourite sweet and savoury specialties.
Croatia is in Europe and is the latest country to join the European Union, becoming an EU member in 2013. Croatia’s capital is Zagreb, which has a population of 4.28 million, most of whom are Roman Catholics. Croatian cuisine offers a unique blend of the best of many regions. Croatia has a long coastline on the Adriatic Sea and along the pristine Dalmatian coast the food is Mediterranean but further inland the food is full of rich Austro-Hungarian style dishes.
