Our host Sinta Ekawati, welcomes SWIC members to the beautiful Wisma Indonesia (Indonesian Consulate) to enjoy a morning of Indonesian culture, music & cuisine.
Sinta has arranged for us to be entertained with a cultural performance of Indonesian dance and music, followed by a light lunch showcasing delicious Indonesian food.
Indonesia is located among ancient trading routes and is rich with botanical resources; it is the world’s largest archipelago. Indonesia boasts over 17,000 islands and has attracted traders, adventurers and pirates from all over the world throughout its history. Indonesia has more than 300 ethnic groups, and each region is home to distinctive cuisines and flavours, many of which can be traced back through an exciting history with influences from both east and west. The country’s soil and climate support several agricultural crops, with rice being Indonesia’s most important staple food. Dated back as early as 2300 B.C, rice normally accompanies every meal and is often the main ingredient for desserts and beverages.
