Our Russia Morning Tea host is SWIC member Maria Brookes. Maria was born in Moscow, Russia, and lived there during the political changes of perestroika, the start of the market economy and the collapse of the USSR.

Although Maria has been living outside of Russia for over 20 years, she still has family and friends in Moscow and visits her home town regularly.

Russian food is delicious and boasts lots of diversity due to the country’s long history, enormous lands, and varied climate.   Russia has a population of 1.44m and is the largest country in the world with 6.6 million square miles. It is about two times bigger than Australia.

Street parking – unlimited street parking is available in Ellalong Road and surrounding streets.

Bus Transport – 243 bus departs Wynyard Station, Carrington Street Stand A @9.31.  Get off the bus on the corner of Macpherson Street and Ellalong Rd.  It’s a 2-minute walk.  Alternatively, a 10-minute walk from Military Road bus stop – cnr Cabramatta Rd & Military Road, near the Orpheum.  Keep walking down Macpherson St until you get to Ellalong Rd which is near the bottom of the hill on the left hand side.
