SWIC Private Tour – The Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes

Tuesday, July 16, 2024 @ 9:20 AM - 11:00 AM

Laura Jones has won the Archibald Prize 2024 for her portrait of Australian author and conservationist Tim Winton. Her win marks the 14th time the Archibald Prize has been awarded to a woman and she becomes the 12th woman to win since its inception in 1921. Join the conversation with our Experienced Lead Guide on our annual SWIC guided tour of the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prize Exhibition. This exhibition is often described as Australia’s most engaging art event.

The Archibald Prize, first awarded in 1921, is one of Australia’s favourite art awards, and one of its most prestigious. Awarded to the best portrait painting, it is a who’s who of Australian culture. The Wynne Prize is awarded to the best landscape painting of Australian scenery, or figure sculpture, while the Sulman Prize is given to the best subject painting, genre painting or mural project in oil, acrylic, watercolour or mixed media.
