Tour of the Sydney Fish Market and Brunch (NOW FULL)

For the June monthly activity we will tour the Sydney Fish Market and then have brunch.

Sydney Fish Market is the largest market of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and the third largest seafood market in terms of variety in the world. Approximately 2,700 crates (around 50-55 tonnes) of the freshest possible seafood is auctioned each day.  The incredible variety of seafood is sourced from individual fishermen, co-ops, fishing businesses and aquaculture farms in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific Region with over 100 species available to buyers daily.

Learn how to get the best out of Sydney Fish Market. An expert guide will take us behind the scenes to explore all facets of the market. We will learn how to seek out the best value and finest quality seafood, including some of the more unusual species you may not have seen before!

We will also get an opportunity to see the auction floor (outside of working hours) and learn how the Dutch auction system facilitates Sydney’s seafood supply. Experience the authenticity of a working market by seeing expert filleters and oyster shuckers at work. We may even get a photo with an enormous king crab or meet a local fisherman if we are lucky!

For brunch at Sydney Fish Market after the tour, the guide will then help you select one of the finest meals in Sydney – prawns, oysters, crabs, whole fish, sashimi, sea urchin roe, scampi, raw or cooked to order – wide array of finest selection to choose from.
