SUMMARY:Challenge Walk - The Spit to Manly
DESCRIPTION:This iconic\, well-marked walk starts at the Spit Bridge. The ~10 km route hugs the coastline\, providing bush\, beach and beautiful views. Elevation gain is approximately 250 meters.  It is a well-formed track with short steep hill sections and some shade.  Elevation gain is approximately 250 meters. \nIt is best to wear hiking shoes rather than sneakers. This will help with grip and provide a level of protection for your feet.   There are a few spots with steep narrow stairs but nothing too challenging.   Some of you may benefit from using walking poles\, so if you have them it might be useful to bring them along.   If you would like poles and do not have them\, please let us know as someone may be able to lend you a pair. \nThe walk finishes at Manly Wharf where we’ll stop for lunch.   There are multiple options to buy lunch or you may bring a picnic lunch.    Bring a hat\, raincoat\, sunscreen and water.  Water is available along the route but please bring at least 1 Litre with you and preferable 1.5 litres. \nYou should not have any injuries and be able to walk consistently at a moderate pace if you would like to join us on this walk. \nDATE: April 7 2026 \nTIME: 9.30am – 1.30pm approximate which includes a lunch in Manly at the end \nVENUE: Meet outside the Ormeggio at The Spit restaurant \n \nCOST: Public transport expenses.   Lunch if you do not bring one with you. \nRSVP TO: Email: SWICchallengewalk@gmail.com \nRSVP BY: Thursday April 2 2026. \nLEADERS:  Rani Haet (0452 588 153) and Thana Sivaganam (0432 553 338).   On the day of the hike\, please let us know if you are unable to make it. \nTRANSPORT:  You can catch the B line bus from Wynyard to the Spit West Reserve\, Spit Road (e.g.\, 172X\, 173X). It is fairly flat terrain and offers wonderful harbour views. SUMMARY:Challenging Walk – Watsons Bay to Double Bay
DESCRIPTION:This is a section of the Bondi to Manly wharf which we are repeating because it is fabulous and provides some shade protection from the sun. It starts at the Watsons Bay Wharf and continues through to Parsley Bay\, Nielson Park\, Bottle and Glass Point. Accompanies by stunning view\, you will keep walking through the Hermitage Foreshore Walk\, passing the many historical cottages\, reserves\, small beaches and bays\, before reaching Double Bay Wharf. This walk is approximately 11kms and will take approximately 3 hours. Easy walk. Undulating terrain with some steps along the Hermitage foreshore. Some sections involve street walking. You must not be carrying any injuries and be able to walk consistently at a moderate pace. Please bring a hat\, water and morning tea. \nDATE: Tuesday 5 March \nTIME: 8:55 – 12:30 (includes travel time on Ferry to Watsons Bay) \nVENUE: Circular Quay – arrive 8:55 at the wharf to catch the 9:05 ferry arriving at Watsons Bay at 9:35.
