DESCRIPTION:Stroll with the expert architect through the hilly terrain of Sydney’s oldest suburb\, The Rocks and see how heritage and contemporary architecture co-exist in harmony. \nIn this two-hour walk\, you will discover much more about Sydney’s past\, present and future\, co-existing in harmony side by side\, from the old colonial area to Sydney’s newest urban suburb\, Barangaroo. \nThe walk includes the Barangaroo Point Reserve and Foundation Park. The Rocks’ best kept secret and the ‘ghost houses’ sculpture introduce an element of fantasy\, inviting imaginative responses from visitors\, giving it a unique ‘secret garden’ character. \nYou will also witness the metamorphosis of the area into new residential\, commercial\, recreational and cultural uses of the 21st Century after the port facilities moved away in both Walsh Bay and Barangaroo. \nThe tour concludes at the controversial brutalist apartment building\, The Sirius\, and (optional) lunch at somewhere nice\, at your own cost. \nDATE: Thursday 25 March 2021 \nTIME: 10.00am – 12.00pm \nLIMITED TO MAX 15 PEOPLE \nVENUE: Meeting point to be advised \nCOST: $40 per person\, to be paid at RSVP. DESCRIPTION:Our walk will start at the Customs House at Circular Quay and wind around the Quay area\, along Hickson Rd to the Barangaroo area. \nThis area was once a very old part of Sydney and has been made into a Reserve consisting of over 75\,000 indigenous plants and bushes\, and built from Hawksbury sandstone. There are different layers of paths and beautiful views of the Harbour. \nThe Barangaroo Precinct has many inviting coffee and tea places\, and the Barangaroo Ferry\, which goes to Circular Quay\, is nearby.
