SUMMARY:Movie Group - 27 June 2017
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hi ladies! Time for a movie! \nFor those of you new to Movie Group\, Jill Surgeon and I select the morning movies that are available for the 4th Tuesday of each month. The theatre advertises them about a week before so expect an email from us at that time. We meet prior to the movie times in the courtyard or the lobby of the Dendy Theatre\, Opera Quay. You select the movie you are interested in and buy your ticket – usually there is more than one person interested in each movie. \nAfter the movie\, we walk to City Extra for lunch or a coffee. Tip: they have excellent chips and yummy pancakes. \nThe movies vary in start and end times so we don’t all wait for each other at the theatre.  When your movie ends\, just head over to City Extra and we’ll see you there. \nThis week ‘Viceroy’s House’ starts at 10:15. If you go to this one\, there may be a wait until the rest of the group arrives for lunch. Usually the movie times are closer together. No need to RSVP – just join the fun. \nI will try to remember my name tag – look up my picture on the SWIC website so you recognize me! And please remember to wear your name tag. It is very helpful especially for our new members. Thank you. \nAnn Wilson \nLocation: \nDendy Opera Quay Theatre is amongst the shops on the walk to the Opera House at Circular Quay. \nCity Extra is along the wharf across from where all the ferries come in. There usually is plenty of setting upstairs for our group and we still overlook the wharf. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Ready for a movie?? It may be all we have to do on these rainy days!! \nFor those of you new to the group\, Jill and I select the morning movies that are available for the 4th Tuesday of each month. The cinema advertises them about a week beforehand\, so expect an email from us at that time. We meet prior to the movie times in the courtyard or the lobby of the Dendy Theatre\, Opera Quay. You select the movie you are interested in and buy your ticket – usually there is more than one person interested in each movie. After the movie we walk to the Hacienda Bar in the Pullman Quay Grand for lunch or a coffee. The movies vary in start and end times so we don’t all wait for each other at the theatre. When your movie ends\, just head over to the Hacienda and we’ll see you there. Hopefully you won’t be alone in your choice of movie! No need to RSVP – just join us. Jill and I will try to remember our name tags – look up our beautiful pictures on the SWIC website! \nLocation: \nDendy Opera Quay Theatre is amongst the shops on the walk to the Opera House at Circular Quay. \nHacienda Bar in the Pullman Quay Grand is on the same side of Circular Quay close to the turn after you pass Wharf 1. Enter the hotel and go to the second floor\, elevator or stairs. The bar is usually empty at noon on a Tuesday. I will try to book the area to the far left after entering. It’s the largest area to sit together. If not\, just select a spot anywhere. It’s a beautiful view overlooking the harbour. \nMARCH 28 MOVIES \nAlone in Berlin \n10:00am \nBerlin\, 1940. Working class couple Otto and Anna Quangel receive the news that their only son has been killed on the battlefield. They decide to resist the Nazi regime in their very own way\, risking everything to try and turn the tide on German support for the cause. Based on the international best-seller by Hans Fallada. \nLoving \n10:15am \nSet in 1958 Virginia\, Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga give understated yet powerful performances as a couple who simply want to live peacefully together\, yet sadly have to go all the way to the Supreme Court just to do so. \nBeauty and the Beast \n10:20am \nI think this might be my pick! Fond memories of watching the Disney movie with my daughters and the movie appears to live up to the hype. \nSee you at the movies! \nAnn Wilson & Jill Surgeon \n [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

While there\, the intelligent\, flirtatious\, and amusingly egotistical Lady Vernon is determined to be a matchmaker for her daughter Frederica—and herself too\, naturally. She enlists the assistance of her old friend Alicia (Chloë Sevigny)\, but two particularly handsome suitors (Xavier Samuel and Tom Bennett) complicate her orchestrations. \nAdapting Jane Austen’s unpublished early novella Lady Susan\, Whit Stillman returns to the Sundance Film Festival (where his Metropolitan premiered in 1990) in top form with his latest comedy of manners. Kate Beckinsale excels in her role as the deliciously devious Lady Vernon and delivers each line with relish. With exquisite period detail and a script teeming with bon mots and witty dialogue\, Love & Friendship is a rare—and rarified—treat. \nSING STREET \nStarring Ferdia Walsh-Peelo\, Aidan Gillen\, Maria Doyle Kennedy.\nDirected by John Carney.\nClassification: M (Coarse language )\, 105 mins. \nSING STREET takes us back to 1980s Dublin seen through the eyes of a 14-year-old boy named Conor (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) who is looking for a break from a home strained by his parents’ relationship and money troubles\, while trying to adjust to his new inner-city public school where the kids are rough and the teachers are rougher. He finds a glimmer of hope in the mysterious\, über-cool and beautiful Raphina (Lucy Boynton)\, and with the aim of winning her heart he invites her to star in his band’s music videos. There’s only one problem: he’s not part of a band…yet. She agrees\, and now Conor must deliver what he’s promised – calling himself “Cosmo” and immersing himself in the vibrant rock music trends of the decade\, he forms a band with a few lads\, and the group pours their heart into writing lyrics and shooting videos. Inspired by writer/director John Carney’s (ONCE\, BEGIN AGAIN) life and love for music\, SING STREET shows us a world where music has the power to take us away from the turmoil of everyday life and transform us into something greater. \n  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
