SUMMARY:EXPLORE SYDNEY WALK: Manly Art Gallery and coastal walk to the Harbord Diggers
DESCRIPTION:Our first stop is a visit to Manly Art Gallery & Museum. This is the first metropolitan based regional gallery in NSW\, established in 1930. It is a small gallery with an interesting collection of works. The new exhibition will be from 6 June until 27 July. It foregrounds the work of artists who enfold time and space\, positioning us in relationship to an “environment” that is shaped by cultural\, spiritual\, political social and intellectual forces. \nFrom here we will walk to Harbord Diggers along Manly\, Queenscliff and Freshwater beaches and boardwalk hoping to see some whales. It’s an easy walk (7 km round trip) with marvellous views and a few steps between Queenscliff and Freshwater. \nLunch at the Harbord Diggers\, for those who would like\, then walk back to Manly wharf. DESCRIPTION:Dear Art and Culture Enthusiasts\, \nCelebrate Spring and a slice of art history in Sydney with a ferry ride to Manly to visit The Manly Art Gallery and Museum\, the first metropolitan-based regional gallery in New South Wales. Manly Art Gallery & Museum has an extensive collection of Australian art\, ceramics and beach culture. Located at Manly Cove just along from the wharf\, it is the arts and cultural flagship for Sydney’s Northern Beaches and contributes richly to cultural tourism in the region. MAG&M Design Shop presents the work of local Australian artists and designers \nMAG&M was established in 1930\, however 2024 marks 100 years since the Gallery’s collection commenced.   To celebrate this milestone we have organised a SWIC Private Curator Led Tour of the indigenous ceramics’ exhibition\, ‘Clay on Country.
