SUMMARY:Art & Culture - Guided Architectural and History Tour of Marrickville Library and Pavilion (WAITLIST)
DESCRIPTION:Marrickville Library and Pavilion was the recipient of the greatly anticipated National Trust 2020 Judges’ Choice Award – Adaptive Reuse.  It has a remarkable history and both the exterior and interior are architecturally significant. To quote Mayor Darcy Byrne (Inner West Council) “This beautiful public facility is more than a Library; it is a new town square for Marrickville”.  The building integrates contemporary design and technology with the original\, conserved heritage elements of the main hospital building. It is uncompromising with regards to sustainability\, with recycled elements wherever possible and clever design features that reduce energy consumption. \nDon’t miss out on this special Art & Culture event.  Book early as numbers are restricted to 15 members. \nMarrickville Library is situated on land that was home to the Gadigal and Wangal Peoples of the Eora Nation. \nOrganisation for Attending this Art & Culture Event during Covid -19. \nStep1:  \nMembers email an RSVP to the Convenor to determine availability. Important: Provide your Mobile contact number and Post Code for Covid Tracing. We will always try to get back to you in 24 hours so if you haven’t heard please contact us again. \nStep 2: \nOn advice from the Convenor re availability\, the Member’s place on the tour is confirmed. \nPlaces on this tour are strictly limited to 15 members. In all likelihood there will be a Waitlist so please advise the Convenor as early as possible if you find that you are unable to attend. \nDo not give your place to another member. All members attending must register with the Convenor and provide Covid tracing Information. \nDATE: Tuesday 20 April 2021 \nTIME: Meet outside the main door of the Library no later than 10.25am for the 10.30– 11.30am tour.
