SUMMARY:International Morning Tea - Indonesian (WAIT LIST)
DESCRIPTION:This event is now full. If you wish please contact Jill and place your name on the wait list. \nLocated among ancient trading routes and rich with botanical resources\, the world’s largest archipelago with over 17\,000 islands has attracted traders\, adventurers and pirates\, from all over the world throughout its history. Indonesia has more than 300 ethnic groups\, and each region is home to distinctive cuisines and flavours\, many of which can be traced back through an exciting history with influences from both east and west. The country’s soil and climate support a number of agricultural crops\, with rice being Indonesia’s most important staple food. Dated back as early as 2300 B.C\, rice normally accompanies every meal and is often the main ingredient for desserts and beverages. \nKesty and Muljono Pringgoharjono moved back to Sydney\, Muljono’s home town\, in January 2018\, after international postings in five countries in 19 years.  Kesty\, who loves rice and never failed to take her rice cooker wherever she lived\, co-authored a cultural travel book\, The Centhini Story\, The Javanese Journey of Life (https://www.amazon.com/Centhini-Story-Javanese-Journey-original/dp/9812329757) and a cook book\, Selamat Makan (Bon Appetite in Indonesian) which was shortlisted for the prestigious Gourmand Book Award in 2016 under the Culinary Travel category.
