Join us for the Coffee Morning on 11 August and hear academic and public historian, Dr Ian Hoskins, talk about Sydney landscapes and history.
During the past 25 years Dr Hoskins has taught at universities, worked as a curator at The Powerhouse Museum, and, since 2003, written, curated and guided walks in his capacity as the North Sydney Council Historian. On weekends he researches and writes as an independent historian. Throughout his life Ian has had an abiding interest in landscape and culture.
His book, Was thinking of home today: North Sydney and the Great War was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s History Prize for local and regional history in 2009. Sydney Harbour: A History won the Queensland Premier’s Literary Prize for History in 2010. Coast: a history of the NSW edge won the NSW Premier’s History Prize for local and regional history in 2014.
The Coffee Morning will be held at the Lane Cove Library (see venue details below) commencing at 10.30am.
